Yay, I finally got to reading this after so many years of seeing it in the library but never picking it up!I think my love for Libba Bray's writing carried me through this book. The plot was pretty interesting but it moved so darn slowly. Although I must admit that I will give five stars to this book for being so different from most YA novels out there right now, mainly in the romance department which was somewhat non-existent. The main reason why I didn't outrightly love this book was the friendship that was portrayed in the novel, between Gemma, Ann, Felicity and Pippa. I loved Gemma's character and her strong personality and I could accept the other characters for who they were but the friendship between them just didn't work for me. It felt contrived and every character was in the group for their own selfish purpose. Even by the end of the book, it didn't seem like their friendship had strengthened or anything, so that was a big problem for me. Well, I do hope the other two books in the trilogy would be much better.
